Safe City campaign for World Cup launched

Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police on Thursday began a special effort under the slogan “Safe City” in front of the Men’s Hockey World Cup, which begins on January 13.
The police have increased blocking and checking as part of the campaign to stop anti-social behaviour in the city of Bhubaneswar. The drive is being observed by DCP Prateek Singh.
Singh stated that “All zonal assistant commissioners of police and inspectors in-charge of police station have been requested to perform routine hotel inspections to prevent intrusions and to keep attentive on movement of suspicious cars.”
Police have increased their patrols in bus terminals and train stations. In addition, police have begun conducting raids at shady locations and detaining suspects. Additionally, police in the city have stepped up their efforts to combat speeding and intoxicated driving.
On January 23, the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela is scheduled to begin. On January 11, a star-studded hockey event to mark the start of the world cup will take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
