Bhubaneswar: Principal Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman of Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Asit Tripathi reviewed various development plans funded by the council and inaugurated projects during his 2-day visit to Kalahandi district.
On Friday, Tripathy held a detailed discussion with the district level officials on the success of the agriculture and horticulture, fisheries and animal resource development. He called for economic infrastructure of the district to be improved and the benefit of the welfare schemes to reach the people through the grant provided by WODC and proper utilization of the sufficient natural resources of Kalahandi district.
Today, he reviewed the foundation of the beautification scheme of the pond near Bhawanipatna Fisheries Department office. WODC has sanctioned a grant of Rs. 2 crore for this purpose.
Later, Tripathi visited the Zakam Eco Tourist Project running under the supervision of the Kalahandi Territorial DFO. He expressed that the development of this place can be accelerated on the basis of group-based coordination with the help of Mission Shakti Groups in view of the large influx of tourists and assured that all the cooperation will be provided by the Council.
Besides visiting the coffee nursery raising site at Thuamul Rampur, Tripathi discussed various ancillary aspects of the coffee farming sector at Kaniguma. He also visited the famous Manikeswari Temple at Thuamul Rampur and reviewed the progress of the temple redevelopment work taken under the Special Development Fund.
During his visit to Dharmagarh subdivision, Tripathi instructed the Sub-Collector to finalize the outline of the detailed work plan related to the renovation of the Town Hall with a grant of Rs.2.78 crore provided by the Council.
He also inaugurated the new Aahaar Kendra set up by the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Dharmagarh sub-division. This center will be managed by Mission Shakti Group members under the supervision of the NAC.
He visited the culvert at Masigaon Bagdishar of Junagadh block and advised the district administration to prepare the cost estimates for the approach road considering the demands of the public. He reviewed the reconstruction of Sialkani Katabandh in Dharmagarh sub-division and the construction of flood light system to be installed at Junagarh Sports Complex and Cricket Ground from WODC funds.
During the visit, MLA Dharmagarh, Kalahandi Collector Ms P Anvesha Reddy, CEO of WODC Dr. Ajit Kumar Mishra, Chief Development Officer of Zilla Parishad, DFO, Sub-Collector, Dharmagarh, Technical Consultant, Expert Member of WODC and other departmental officials were present.
