Lion Safari at Nandankanan not safe as tourists stuck inside

Bhubaneswar: Tourists at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) escaped from a possible major mishap as they got stuck inside Lion Safari for an hour on Saturday.

According to reports, a Safari bus carrying tourists fell into a pit inside Lion Safari on Saturday. As the lions were openly roaming around the Safari, the tourists were panicked to see wild lions outside the bus. The bus halted inside the Safari for at least one hour.

However, all tourists, who faced over an hour-long ordeal during their Safari journey inside Nandankanan, were safe.

Acting promptly on instruction of Nandankanan authorities, the Safari staff managed to put all lions inside a feeding chamber to avoid any untoward incident and brought all stranded tourists safely from the Safari in another bus.

The incident was not first to have to occurred inside the zoo. Many such incidents had been reported in the past.

However, the Nandankanan authorities did not clarify about the incident.
