Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly dumped a newborn baby on the side along the National Highway in Bhubaneswar.In another turn of events, the baby was rescued by Sahid Nagar police when another woman was taking the baby along with her following the intervention of Childline officials.
As per reports, a woman came by an auto rickshaw and dumped a newborn baby along the roadside near Acharya Vihar.
Meanwhile, another woman also came in another auto-rickshaw after some time and took the baby with her.When she was trying to escape with the baby, the Childline officials reached the spot after getting the information from a reliable source. Subsequently, the officials informed Sahid Nagar police about the development.
Police were pressed into action immediately. They tracked the auto-rickshaw number in which the woman tried to escape with the baby. Eventually, the newborn was rescued from the Akhandalamani slum and police handed over the baby to the Childline officials.
The baby has been admitted to the Capital Hospital for treatment. Sahid Nagar police has also registered a case in this regard and launched an investigation into the incident.
