Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved the Khadag river basin project to be constructed at a cost of Rs 126 crore.
Earlier, the project was also approved by the Technical Advisory Committee.
About 20,000 people will benefit from this project in three districts – Kantamal block of Boudh district, Baliguda block of Kandhamal district and Gudvela block of Balangir district.
In this plan, the project will be carried out near Ladgaon village of Baliguda block.
The project will be constructed without any displacement and will help in conserving river water as well as meeting the drinking water needs of the region during summer, fish farming and raising ground water level.
It is worth noting that on the 5th of this month, on the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary V.K. Pandian visited to Boudh district and the local people submitted a demand letter for the construction of a barrage in Khadag river.
