Block-level alumni meet under ‘Mo School’ from September 8

Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education department will organise block-level alumni conferences under ‘Mo School’ programme from September 8 to November 14 in 198 blocks of the State.

The conferences will bring together committee presidents and representatives to facilitate discussions on school’s improvement. This platform will foster the exchange of developmental insights between committee presidents and representatives.

It was decided during the 42nd Executive Council Meeting of the ‘Mo School’ on Friday. Presiding over the meeting, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department Ashwathy S highlighted the pivotal role alumni play in the holistic development of the institution. Recognizing the collective effort required to elevate the standards of education, she emphasised the importance of not only financial support but also active engagement in academic and extracurricular programmes.

The meeting also discussed various initiatives designed to strengthen the bonds between the school and its former students. Several progressive strategies were outlined including integrating alumni into aspirational courses, facilitating collaboration with external entities, and fostering excellence in education.

In an effort to recognize outstanding contributions, an awareness programme related to the “Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar” will be organised on September 6. This event will delve into the awards at various levels and the criteria for accolades. The event also serves as an opportunity to showcase exemplary work by alumni committees and their plans for securing the prestigious award.

‘School Adoption programme’ spanning for a week in September will facilitate meetings between school mentors, alumni and other stakeholders to assess the school’s progress and identify areas for improvement. Exciting collaborations were also announced, further underscoring the commitment to educational excellence.

‘Mo School’ will join hands with the Nandankanan Zoological park to launch the ‘Student Zoo Ambassador programme’, which will focus on biodiversity education through the aspirational club.The programme will include 40 schools from Cuttack and Khurda districts around Nandankanan, where students will be taught about biodiversity.

Furthermore, a collaborative agreement with Khan Academy is agreed to promote mathematics and science education across all Odia medium schools. Underlining the collective dedication toward educational growth, over 10,998 alumni and CSR organizations have contributed more than Rs.12 crore this month for school development. This generous support has facilitated the approval of 5,857 project proposals amounting to over Rs.36 crore.

Among others, OSEPA State Project Director Anupam Saha, CEO of Mo School, OSD of Mo School, senior officials of the department and various members of the council were present.
