Bhubaneswar: President of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday appointed tribal leader Dr. Priyabrat Majhi as party’s media coordinator.
“In supersession of previous appointment on Media Coordinator Shri Naveen Patnaik, President, Biju Janata Dal has appointed Shri Priyabrata Majhi, as Media Coordinator of Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect”, said a press release issued by Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das.
While the post was lying vacant for some days, the appointment carries much weight amid speculations of early elections. Earlier, he was was appointed as TV panelist of the party in 2019.
Dr. Majhi, who was former general secretary of BJP’s ST Morcha and former National Secretary of Indian Youth Congress, had joined BJD at an event held at Kalabadia in Mayurbhanj in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2019. He has been working tirelessly for tribal development and preservation of tribal culture in the state.
