Bhubaneswar: In a revealing interview, Bollywood sensation Janhvi Kapoor opened up on being a starkid, the profound impact of the ever-persistent paparazzi culture. She also made shocking revelations about her pictures being morphed to be used on ‘pornographic sites’.
She revealed how she was troubled after she discovered manipulated and inappropriate images of herself circulating on the internet during her teenage years. Expressing deep concern, Janhvi said, “People see these manipulated images and assume they’re real. That deeply concerns me.”
She recalled she was only 10 when she entered her school’s computer lab and found her images on Yahoo’s homepage, flashing across the computer screens of her classmates.
“I was very uncomfortable and not groomed in the photos even as the headlines announced I was being launched in the film industry,” she said to Newslaundry.
“This did not make me popular. Instead, it alienated me from my peers in school. My teachers started disliking me. I didn’t understand what was happening. My friends looked at me differently, they poked fun at me for not getting waxed. Many insinuated that I didn’t have to work as I was famous anyway, weird taunts I wouldn’t understand. There was a lot of judgment, a lot of questioning of my self-worth from a very young age,” she further added.
Janhvi Kapoor who made her acting debut with ‘Dhadak’ has come a long way in her career graph. She was last seen in Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bawaal’ and is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie.
