Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha police arrested two absconding drug dealers in separate operations carried out in Khurda and Nayagarh districts.
Acting on an intelligence input, a team of STF Bhubaneswar raided Khurdha and apprehended absconding drug peddler Md Sadam of Danagohiri area of Puri district, sources said.
Md Sadam was wanted in connection with a case registered at the STF police station. In this case, on September 25, the STF seized 3.11 kg of brown sugar, three 7 mm pistols, seven magazines, 43 rounds of 7 mm ammunition, one blank cartridge, and other incriminating materials from the possession of the accused.
The accused had managed to flee the spot during the raid. He was the main supplier of arms and ammunition to another accused named Siba Prasad Das. The accused was arrested and forwarded to the court. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Similarly, the STF arrested another absconding accused person, Chittaranjan Behera, a resident of the Gopalprasad police station area in Nayagarh district.
In this case, 1090 grams of contraband brown sugar, and other incriminating materials were seized from the possession of the accused. The apprehended accused was absconded from the spot during the raid. He was arrested and forwarded to the court in Dhenkanal on Saturday. Further investigation into the case is on.
The accused was earlier booked by Nandankanan police in Bhubaneswar under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 NDPS Act.
