Bhubaneswar: The unexpected passing of the legendary Indian actress Sridevi in 2018 left everyone in shock. Her husband, Boney Kapoor, recently broke the silence surrounding her death in an interview with The New Indian.

He revealed that her death was accidental, not natural, and clarified that exhaustive investigations, including lie detector tests, confirmed no foul play.

In an interview with The New Indian, Boney said, “It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report which came clearly stated it was accidental.”

Boney Kapoor shared insights into Sridevi’s health, mentioning her habit of occasional fasting to maintain a good appearance on-screen. He disclosed that she experienced blackouts due to low blood pressure issues. He recounted an incident where actor Nagarjuna informed him about Sridevi fainting during a movie shoot due to crash dieting.

Sridevi’s dedication to looking good led her to follow strict diets, and despite doctors advising her to add salt to her meals, she didn’t take it seriously.

Boney Kapoor emphasized that he, too, was unaware of the severity until the tragic incident occurred. He shared that Sridevi’s lifestyle choices, including crash diets, likely contributed to the unfortunate event.

For the unversed, Sridevi died after drowning in a Dubai hotel bathtub during a family trip for a wedding on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54.
