Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its drive against illegal posters, and littering in the city, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on a healthcare facility at Unit-6 on Saturday for dumping of medicines and other waste on road.

It is a pathology lab and diagnostic centre located on Ekamra Marg. “Team BMC has been working day and night to keep the city clean. We will impose a fine of Rs 50,000 for spoiling the beauty of the city and also lodge FIR against the wrongdoers,” a BMC official said.

The BMC has also taken similar action against several marriage mandaps, hotels, and business establishments for violating garbage disposal norms. A few day ago, a community centre at Mancheswar was slapped with Rs 50,000 fine.

On December 11, the civic body had fined three owners of private houses Rs 50,000 each for defacing public places by putting “To-Let” posters at several places. Three police complaints have been lodged against them. “Notices are pasted on defunct vehicles and structures placed on the road. Action will be taken by the civic body if the owner does not take necessary steps to remove them,” it had said.

A gym at Bapuji Nagar was slapped Rs 50,000 for putting up posters on walls, monuments and telephone boxes, two days later.
