Bhubaneswar: The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has released a rankings list of different airlines based on on-time performance (OTP) matrix.
According to the data, Akasa Air tops the list among Indian airlines in the domestic sector, beating Indigo and others.
Akasa Air occupies first with a 78.2% OTP for the month of November 2023, followed by Indigo (77.5%).
Akasa Air was founded by billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who passed away last year at the age of 62. The low-cost airline, launched in partnership with Vinay Dube, former CEO of Jet Airways and Go First, started commercial services in August 2022.
The OTP index was calculated on the basis of service, arrivals and departures for four airports — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
A flight is considered on-time when it arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time or departs within 15 minutes of scheduled departure time.
The total number of complaints from passengers for November was 601. According to the Civil Aviation ministry, Vistara and Indigo had the lowest complaint rates.
