Odisha Cabinet approves 13 proposals; Upper age limit of OCS increased

Bhubaneswar: The upper age limit of the candidates applying for Odisha Civil Services has been increased from 32 to 38 years.

A proposal in this regard was approved at a meeting of Odisha Cabinet presided by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.

Briefing the media on the Cabinet decisions, chief secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena said the General Administration and Public Grievances department had mooted the proposal to raise the upper age limit for OCS examinations to provide more opportunities to the candidates to appear at the OCS examinations. The new rule will come into force in 2024.

Earlier, the state government had increased the upper age limit from 32 to 38 for the advertisements made during 2021, 2022 and 2023 for entry into government service.

Besides this, the Cabinet approved 13 proposals at the meeting. Following are major proposals that were approved:

Allotment of land to Public Health Foundation of India for establishment of a permanent campus of Indian Institute of Public Health at BhubaneswarProcurement of 200 new e-buses to be added to the fleet of MO Bus by CRUT to strengthen urban mobility in Capital Region of Bhubaneswar
LED street lights in 110 Urban Local Bodies with an estimated cost of Rs 312.18 crore
Amendment of Odisha Information & Public Relations Technical and Non-Technical Service (Method of Recruitment and conditions of service) Amendment Rules, 2023
