Bhubaneswar: Denizens will be able to immerse themselves in the blooms in Odisha capital this month. While Raj Bhavan garden opened for public on Saturday, a two-day annual flower exhibition will be a treat for lovers of fauna at Ekamrakanan in Bhubaneswar from January 13.
The Raj Bhavan garden would be open for visitors up to January 20 between 2.30 pm and 5 pm. The garden will remain open for the visit of public and school students during the period. There is no entry fee for visiting the Raj Bhavan garden, sources said.
The garden’s Cactus House, Water Fountain, Musical Fountain, Ayurvedic Garden, Rose Garden, Ayurvedic Garden and Deer Park would be the major attractions for visitors.
However, cameras, eatables and other objectionable items including firearms, weapons and alcohol-based drinks are not allowed inside the Raj Bhavan premises.
This apart, the two-day annual flower exhibition organised by the Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPRC) in collaboration with Plant Lovers’ Association is set to kick off at Ekamra Kanan which is also known as the Botanical Garden.
The annual exhibition will showcase a wide collection of Rose, Dahlia, Seasonal Chrysanthemum (Sebati), Marigold, Garbera, Zinnia, Astoria, Calendula, Lilium, Gladiolus and Anthurium flowers among others.
However, the main attraction of the exhibition will the Bonsai, Orchids and succulent flowers.
According to sources, the RPRC has been organising the state-level annual flower show on the premises of Ekamra Kanan on the second Saturday and Sunday of January every year since 2006. However, the exhibition was not held for last two years due to Covid restrictions.
A Plant Bazaar will also be organised at Ekamra Kanan where different saplings, seeds, seedlings, garden tools and implements, fertilizers and pesticides are available at reasonable cost.
