Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a slight rise in temperature during the last 24 hours with the mercury hovering at 10 degree Celsius and below at six places, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Tuesday.
Kirei in Sundargarh was the coldest for the third consecutive day at 8 degree Celsius, followed by Sundargarh at 9.6 degree Celsius, Koraput at 9.2 degree Celsius, Rourkela in Sundargarh at 9.8 degree Celsius and G Udayagiri in Kandhamal at 10 degree Celsius. Similarly, Jharsuguda and Ranital in Bhadrak recorded 10.2 degree Celsius, Phulbani in Kandhamal 11 degree Celsius and Keonjhar 12 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar 18 and 19.1 degree Celsius, respectively, 3.6 degrees above normal.
Dense fog was also seen in Cuttack, Balangir, Nayagarh and Daringbadi this morning. Bhawanipatna and Baripada witnessed shallow to moderate fog.
According to the weather agency, shallow to moderate fog may occur across the state during next 2 days. It has also forecast light rain at some places on January 17-18. On January 17, light rain may occur at one or two places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Mayurbhanj. Light rain is also likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak during the subsequent 24 hours.
The MeT office further said that there will be no large change in the night temperature at many places in the state during the next 4-5 days.
