Bhubaneswar: Overcast conditions and light drizzle have ushered in a wave of cold in Bhubaneswar and several parts of Odisha.
According to regional meteorological centre, the state capital witnessed a further drop in the night temperature, recording 16 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. The city had recorded 16.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday and 17.2 degree Celsius on Monday.
Cuttack saw a slight rise in the mercury level at 15.6 degree Celsius, compared to 14.5 degree Celsius the previous day.
Koraput was the coldest in the state at 10 degree Celsius, 3.5 degree below normal, followed by Kirei in Sundargarh at 11.5 degree Celsius and Sundargarh at 11.6 degree Celsius. Angul was the only other place to record below normal temperature at 12 degree Celsius.
The weather agency has forecast a gradual fall in the night temperature by 2-3 degrees over three days at many places in the state after 24 hours. Light to moderate will continue till January 25.
“The chill will prevail but the day temperature is expected to rise with a change in the cloudy conditions,” said senior meteorologist Umashankar Das.
