Bhubaneswar: In order to facilitate smooth transportation in rural areas, the Odisha government will launch a scheme on Independence Day.
Revealing this in a tweet on Monday, the Commerce and Transport department said the innovative scheme, Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI), will be launched for rural transport on August 15.
According to department sources, the scheme will focus on connectivity in block and district levels initially. Mo Bus service will be introduced in every panchayat.
The Mo Buses will run from panchayats to blocks and later, it would be integrated with inter-city bus operations. In the first phase, the scheme will be introduced in the Koraput, Gajapati and Kalahandi districts.
The first phase of operation will start from October 2 in remote regions having no or less public transport connectivity and the services will be gradually extended to all regions by January, 2024, the sources said.
