A joint team comprising officials of Team 60 and Counter Terrorist Squad (CTS) of the Commisisonerate Police on Saturday launched a massive raid on various hotels in Bhubaneswar. Mostly the hotels, which are not yet registered on the SARAI mobile application, were on the scanner of the Commissionerate Police.
Such hotels are located on various parts of the city, including near Master Canteen and other areas. The inspection assumes significance as it has been observed that several criminal gangs from other parts of the country are committing crimes in Bhubaneswar and parts of the State.
It has been found that many criminals mostly use lodging facilities and escape after committing crime.
The SARAI App was launched by the Commissionerate Police to keep a tab on the stay of suspicious persons, mostly anti-socials. As several hotels were not sharing data regarding the guests, it is suspected that such units are used by the anti-socials to stay and escape after committing crimes.
The regular sharing of data about hotel guests can help the Commissionerate Police to keep surveillance on those having criminal backgrounds.
