Rourkela: Body of a Class X student, who was beaten to death allegedly by three of his friends, was recovered near Sarana Chhak in Odisha’s Rourkela on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rudra Narayan Padhi (15) of Balughat Basti. He was a student of Developed Area High School in Civil Township here.
According to sources, Rudra’s friends had asked him for some money two days ago. He, however, expressed his inability to help them. Following which, they asked him to meet them at Udit Nagar on Sunday. When he reached the spot, the trio thrashed him with a stick and smashed his head with a stone. They then dumped the body near Sarana Chhak.
When he did not return home late into the evening, his parents lodged a missing complaint with Raghunathpali police. Some locals spotted the body this morning and informed his parents.
Police have recovered the body for postmortem and detained two accused for questioning while another is absconding.
