Odisha Govt. collects over ₹10 lakh fine from petrol pumps

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has collected more than Rs 10 lakh as fine from petrol pumps for tampering the fuel dispensing unit in the last three years.

This was stated by Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in the Assembly in reply to a question by BJD MLA Prasanta Behera on Wednesday.

The minister said total 83 cases were registered against the petrol pumps for short-selling petrol and diesel by tampering the dispensing units in the last three years. Total penalty of Rs 10,66,000 was collected from these pumps during the period.

Giving the details of the cases, Nayak said 24 cases were registered and fine of Rs 3,17,000 collected from the errant petrol pumps in 2022-23 financial year.

Similarly, 22 cases were registered and fine of Rs 3,43,000 collected in 2021-22 and 37 cases registered and fine of Rs 4,06,000 collected in the previous year.
