According to a vigilance release, she had demanded the illegal gratification from a complainant to submit enquiry report for conversion of agricultural land to homestead land in his favour. The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized.

While a case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, had been registered against Choudhury at Rourkela Vigilance police station, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to her in Sundargarh district from disproportionate assets angle, it added.

The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) nabbed the official, identified as Naval Kishore Meena, and his associate Babulal Meena who were allegedly taking the bribe through a middleman.

According to the complainant, Naval Kishore and Babulal took the bribe in a chit fund case from Manipur. The duo was taking the bribe in return for dismissing the case, not arresting the guilty and seizing the property, a Rajasthan ACB statement said.

The initial demand was Rs 17 lakh before it was settled at Rs 15 lakh, the statement added.

After a complaint was lodged, Rajasthan ACB personnel conducted raids at several places in the state.

Naval Kishore was arrested by cops after he was trapped by the ACB in a case of disproportionate income against known source of earnings.

The accused were identified as IIC of Chandipur police station Ganeswar Pradhan and ASI Bali Mohanty. Pradhan was also in-charge IIC of Marine police station.

The two were trapped by Vigilance officials while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.50,000 as monthly dole from a licensed IMFL off shop owner, a Vigilance release said.

The accused threatened that they will not allow him to run his business otherwise if he does not pay. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Bali Mohanty and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Pradhan and Mohanty from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
