The 1994-batch IPS officer will replace 1995-batch officer Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, who has been posted as Director Intelligence, a Home department notification said on Wednesday.

Panda at present is Director Intelligence and holding additional charge of CMD, OPHWC.

While the twin city got a new Police Commissioner, new DCP has been appointed in Cuttack. Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh has been transferred and posted as Cuttack DCP. Similarly, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra has been transferred and posted as Puri SP.

As per the notification, a total of 18 IPS officers have been transferred and given new postings in a reshuffle effected by the state government.

As part of the reshuffle, 1995-batch IPS officer Santosh Bala, now Special Secretary in Home department, is allowed to remain in additional charge of CMD, OPHWC.

Similarly, 2003-batch IPS officer Himanshu Kumar Lal, at present IGP, Eastern Range, Balasore, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Northern Range, Sambalpur. He will replace 2004-batch officer Deepak Kumar, who has been posted as IGP, NCR, Talcher and additional charge of Principal of PTC, Angul.

2004-batch IPS officer Satyabrat Bhoi is transferred and posted as IGP Eastern Range, Balasore.

IPS JN Pankaj EOW, STF is transferred and posted as IGP S.R Berhampur and additional charge IGP EOW, STF.

AIGP B Jugal Kishore is now posted as Kendrapara SP

Kendrapara SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat is transferred and posted as Dhenkanal SP

Rayagada SP Vivekanand Sharma is transferred and posted AIGP, State Police Headquarters

Gyana Ranjan Mohapatra posted as Dhenkanal SP is transferred and posted as Special Branch SP, Bhubaneswar

Amaresh Panda posted as Sonepur SP is transferred and posted as AIGP, State Police Headquarters

SP Deogarh PK Mishra is transferred as now posted as SRP Rourkela

SP Special Branch Rama Prasad Sahoo is transferred and now posted as Deogarh SP

Jeypore SDPO Harisha BC is now posted as Rayagada SP

The chief minister launched the e-Abedan app which is a user-friendly platform meant for streamlining licence and permission procedures. He also inaugurated the Unified Command and Control Centre (UCCC) to enhance public safety through real-time monitoring and coordination for swift responses and improved law enforcement.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, “The Commissionerate Police has grown substantially during its journey of 16 years. Today, 52 police stations are functioning under it.”

“I have always emphasised on citizen centric and citizen friendly policing. Over last several years, the Commissionerate Police has taken up a number of drives to connect to several vulnerable sections of society including slum dwellers, senior citizens and children. It has also taken up initiative for spreading cyber crime awareness in educational institutions,” he said.

Stating that security of women is a top priority of the government, he said the police must work towards creating confidence among victims by taking a sensible and empathetic approach.

“I am glad to learn that Commissionerate Police achieved significant increase in conviction rate last year. I am happy that feedbacks on implementation of 5T have been quite good. I will be very happy if the experience of visitors to police stations is improved further,” he added.

Over 300 police officers, including DGP AK Sarangi, Commissioner of Police SK Priyadarsi, Additional Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar DCP, Cuttack DCP, senior police officers and retired police personnel attended the function. The Chief Minister awarded prizes to police officers for their exemplary service.
