According to a vigilance release, she had demanded the illegal gratification from a complainant to submit enquiry report for conversion of agricultural land to homestead land in his favour. The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized.

While a case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, had been registered against Choudhury at Rourkela Vigilance police station, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to her in Sundargarh district from disproportionate assets angle, it added.

While he was found carrying Rs 2.70 lakh, another Rs 1,80,000 was recovered from his office chamber at Boipariguda police station and Rs 3 lakh from his government quarters at Boipariguda during searches. Cash bundles of Rs 500 and other denominations worth Rs 29.77 lakh were found in his quarters at Police Line, Buxi Bazaar, Cuttack, a Vigilance release said, adding that the IIC could not give any satisfactory reply about the source of the money.

Rs 2.70 lakh from his possession.

Rs 1.80 lakh from his Office chamber at Baipariguda PS.

Rs 3 lakh from his official quarter at Baipariguda.

Rs 29.77 lakh from his official govt quarter at Buxi Bazar, Cuttack.

The IIC has been detained at Jeypore Vigilance Office and is being questioned in connection with the cash recoveries. Searches are continuing, it added.

Following a complaint that Sagarika Mohanty, junior engineer, NAC, Buguda was demanding Rs 4,000 for processing the file of the plan approval of the building in favour of the complainant’s father, the Vigilance set a trap.

As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance officials caught Mohanty red handed while accepting it. The entire bribe money was recovered from Mohanty and seized.

Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations of Mohanty’s properties from DA angle.

Berhampur Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Mohanty.

Following a complaint by an Anganwadi worker that Rajeswari Rajkumari Nag, Anganwadi supervisor of Kodinga Sector under Kosagumuda ICDS was demanding bribe of Rs 5,400 towards payment already made for toys, food and nourishment bills meant for Anganwadi Centres, the Vigilance set a trap.

As per the plan the complainant went to give the bribe to Nag. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed the Anganwadi supervisor while accepting it. The entire bribe money was recovered from Nag and seized.

Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on the Nag’s properties at two locations from DA angle.

Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in going on

According to a Vigilance release, the accused, Ramakanta Mallik, had demanded the illegal gratification from a family member of a contractor to process the file for signing of agreement between the latter and the Executive Engineer for execution of 2 works. The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.

While a case has been registered against Mallik under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are on at 3 locations linked to him to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, it added.

Simultaneous house searches are being conducted at four places in Khurdha district by a team led by three DSPs, 10 inspectors, and other staff.

1) A triple-storey building at Jena Colony , Balugaon, Khurdha.

2) One building at Haripur, Tangi, Khurdha.

3) House of his relative at Balugaon, near Chuda Mill , Khurdha.

4) 3 plots with boundary at Chhotaraypursasan, Banpur, Khurdha.

Searches are in progress, a Vigilance release said.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at three locations linked to the CDPO and two locations of the supervisor from disproportionate assets angle. A case has also been registered against them under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Balasore Vigilance police station, it added.

According to the Vigilance, Manoj Kumar Bhanja, Senior Clerk at Simulia CHC was apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.8,000 from a contractual Nursing Officer for processing file for regularisation of his service on completion of the contractual period and sanction of annual increment.

Based on a complaint, a trap was laid today, wherein the accused Sr. Clerk Manoj Kumar Bhanja was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage of Rs.8,000 from the complainant.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mr Bhanja and seized in the presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the parental house of Mr Bhanja in his village Dulasahi Gazipur within Tihidi PS of Bhadrak and his office room at Simulia in Balasore.

The accused Senior Clerk Manoj Kumar Bhanja, has been arrested and will be forwarded. In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.20 dated 14.08.2023 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation, the Vigilance added.

Sarat Kumar Pradhan, Dy. Executive Engineer(DEE), Lift Irrigation(LI), Angul has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs. 50,000 from a contractor to handover electrical estimate of two projects and for release of withheld amount of civil cost.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Sri Pradhan, DEE, LI and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of the DEE from DA angle.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no. 27/2023 U/s-7PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Pradhan, the Vigilance stated.
