The zoo authorities have obtained permission for the same from Central Zoo Authority (CZA) and steps are being taken to get the go-ahead from MoEFCC and other authorities concerned to bring four African leucistic lions, one male and three female, and lemur species by March next year.

Another pair of African lion along with a pair of cheetahs, five ring-tailed lemur, a pair chimpanzee, three red-necked wallaby, eight hamadryas baboon, seven African grey parrot and five blue-and-gold macaw will also be brought from Dubai under the programme

In return, Nandankanan will export a female hippopotamus, six Sangai, five black-bucks, four hog deer, a pair of gaur and red jungle fowl and six gharials, the sources added.

While sharing this clip, Mahindra wrote on Friday, “All countries guard their natural mineral resources and mine them and usually export them to earn forex. Maybe it’s time to declare @iamsrk a Natural Resource…”

Mahindra’s tweet has got over 21,000 likes. An X user commented on it, “Many actors will come, and many will succeed but perhaps, SRK is the last of the stars. He has taken stardom to the next level. I have not watched many of his movies but the way he conducts himself is appreciable.”

At the Odisha Investors’ Meet that was inaugurated in Dubai on Wednesday, companies expressed interest to invest in the state across sectors such as infrastructure, hospitality, logistics, chemicals and food processing, among others.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured the companies of unmatched facilitation and support.

Addressing officials of over 1 50 companies in the UAE and MENA region attending the meet, Naveen said that Odisha attracted investments worth $50 billion during the last two COVID years and that the state is an attractive destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in sectors such as metals and metal downstream, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel, inc uding technical textiles, food processing, including seafood processing, ESDM, logistics and clean energy.

More than 1 50 companies based out of the UAE and MENA region from sectors comprising minerals and metals processing, petrochemicals, chemicals, plastics, heavy industries, clean energy, food processing, including sea food processing, electrical equipment & electronics manufacturing, logistics & warehousing, real estate and hospitality attended the meet. Leading industry associations from the region, including the Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC), participated in the event.

Besides Naveen, a delegation of senior officials from Odisha attended the meet jointly organised by FICCI and the Embassy of India in UAE. Indian Ambassador to UAE Sunjay Sudhir also graced the occasion.

Principal Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma made a presentation on “Odisha’s Industrial Ecosystem” highlighting the huge investment opportunities in the state.

Naveen also announced that the state would be conducting the third edition of its flagship Global Investors Meet — “Make In Odisha 2022” — from November 30 to December 4, 2022 in Bhubaneswar. He invited businesses in the MENA region to attend the Make In Odisha 2022 meet and witness the opportunities the state offers.

He was accompanied by his private secretary VK Pandian to the meeting on the third day of his trip to Italy.

The occasion led him to become the first chief minister of an Indian state to meet Pope Francis in Vatican. This meeting was his second in past 22 years.

Within the few minutes of meeting, Naveen expressed his pleasure meeting His Holiness and thanked him for his warm audience. The chief minister also wished him good health and a long life.

By presenting the Pattachitra, a popular art form of Odisha, Naveen also showcased Odisha’s rich craftsmanship and artistry in Vatican. Pattachitra is a unique ancient traditional, cloth-based scroll painting from Odisha. This art form is known for its intricate detail, natural colours and mythological themes. It shows the unique expertise of the skilled craftsman of Odisha, said an official statement.

The meeting with head of the Catholic Church also raised Naveen’s political stature and grabbed international eyeballs.Stating that it was an honour to meet the head of Catholic Church, the longest serving chief minister of the state said that there are millions of Roman Catholics in India.

Naveen is now on a 10 day foreign trip to Rome and Dubai. He is visiting Rome at the invitation of World Food Program and would share the transformative initiative of Odisha in the field of food security and disaster management.
