A passenger recently had such a harrowing experience.

It was on an Alaska Airlines flight, travelling from Seattle to Las Vegas, that a man attempted to kill a fellow passenger with a makeshift weapon after a violent altercation mid air.

Julio Alvarez Lopez, the accused, was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on January 24, a report in the New York Post said.

Lopez was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

So what was his modus operandi?

Lopez was “fidgety” throughout the flight, and kept on putting and removing his gloves, using the bathroom for a long period during the flight’s descent.

“He sat down, got up a second time, and went to the restroom, where he was reportedly gone for ‘a while’,” Fox News reported.

After Lopez returned to his seat, he began “punching and hitting” the man seated across the aisle, and tried to stab him in the eye.

“During the altercation, the victim’s wife was screaming at the defendant to stop hitting her husband. A witness unbuckled her seatbelt and yelled at the defendant to stop,” an FBI agent wrote in court documents.

Lopez also struck the woman, who was trying to protect their seven-year-old son.

He told investigators that he was seeking asylum in the US, and added that he believed the co-passenger was with ‘the Cartel’ and was following him, as per Fox News.

The passenger who was attacked is alive, but he was severely injured.

This bizzare incident was reported from a police station in Chhindwara district, where the cops had seized illegal liquor packed in plastic bottles and put them in a store room.

However, when time came to produce the seized liquor in the court, the police found that at least 60 bottles were empty. The clueless cops concluded that the large quantity of alcohol was gupled down by rodents!

As per the police, the building is too old where rats are often seen moving around, even destroying records.

The police also claimed to have ‘arrested’ one of the ‘accused’ rats, which will now be produced before the court as proof.

However, the police are yet to confirm as to how many rats were involved in the liquor party!

The case in which the liquor bottles were seized is still pending before the court. The police are now trying to find a way to explain the situation as the seized liquor needs to be produced in the court.

This is not the first time when rats have been accused to drinking liquor at a police station. In an earlier instance, when the police narrated a similar incident in the Shajapur district court, the judge and entire the court staff had burst out laughing.

In 2018, over 1,000 litres of seized liquor kept at the storehouse of Bareilly’s Cantonment police station in Uttar Pradesh had disappeared. The local policemen had blamed rats for guzzling the liquor down.

In a shocking incident of “institutional racism”, nurses at a hospital in the UK tied a Sikh patient’s beard with plastic gloves, left him in his own urine and gave him food which he could not eat, according to a report in The Independent.

The male patient complained about the discrimination in a note on his deathbed, but no action was taken against the nurses, according to a dossier made available to the British online newspaper by a whistleblower from Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Multiple counts of alleged racism against nursing staff and patients were mentioned in the report.

NMC, the UK’s nursing regulator, has launched an investigation into The Independent’s report following a claim by a senior NMC official that the regulator has failed to address “institutional racism” for 15 years.
