The training covered a wide range of topics related to tribal welfare including history and culture of tribal communities, scheme of government and programmes for tribal development, and legal framework governing tribal rights.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary of SSD Department Roopa Roshan Sahoo addressed the participants and felicitated them with mementos in the presence of Director, SCSTRTI Indramani Tripathy and other senior officials of the department during the closing ceremony.

She congratulated the newly recruited Assistant Directors and wished them best of luck in their future endeavor. She advised and gave importance how the Tribal Welfare Department is playing a vital role in the development of the tribal communities. She urged the Assistant Directors to work with full dedication and commitment to augment the cause and welfare of tribal communities in future.

The SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar (TRI, Odisha) has already taken a leading role in imparting training within our state. This time outside state officials of other states are being given orientation program. The SC & ST tribe populations of all states may be more or less of same category but a few new tribes are confined to a particular state. This type of inter-state orientation training program of different officials and employees will strengthen the bonding of tribal culture. This is the beginning of inter-state capacity building training program and will give impetus to submit new proposals to MoTA, Government of India, which will indirectly fulfill the motto of Tribal Welfare Department, sources said.

The participants also got an opportunity to interact with different resource experts and learn from the experiences of these experts. The trainees visited the State Tribal Museum, Library and PVTG Gallery etc. inside the campus.

As many as 180 students have taken admission in the programme which is carried out under Odisha Up-skilling and Placement Programme.

Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian interacted with the trainees on digital mode and encouraged them. “This training programme has been organised for you by the Odisha government. Therefore, in whichever place or country you are, whenever you get a chance to serve Odisha, please do it,” he said.

The state government has launched the Odisha Up-skilling and Placement Programme (OUPP) under its 5T initiative. It aims at training the youths, up-skilling them in cutting edge technology and ensuring assured placement opportunities in the IT sector.

The first phase of the programme is executed in Keonjhar in collaboration with Tech Mahindra Limited as training partner and Tata Steel Foundation as skilling partner. The programme offers free of cost training, lodging, boarding and transport facilities.
